Charging is crucial with the V60 Recharge hybrid: keep its battery topped-up and use only electric power for short journeys, and you may be able to go weeks without visiting a petrol station.

Like all plug-in hybrids, the V60 Recharge has very impressive fuel-economy and emissions figures – on paper at least. You can theoretically see up to 157mpg from the standard T6, and 128mpg from the more powerful T8 Polestar Engineered, while CO2 emissions range from as low as 41g/km for the standard car on 18-inch wheels, to 50-56g/km for the Polestar.
Those figures were obtained from standardised industry tests, however, and it's likely you'll struggle to match them in real-world driving without plugging in every evening. The main thing is to keep the battery charged up, therefore, and drive in electric mode as much as possible. If you're not using the battery, you're just driving a slightly heavier petrol-engined V60, and will likely see in the region of 30-40mpg at best.
The V60 hybrid's charging time is largely determined by its 3.7kW on-board charger – there's no option to upgrade this to 7.4kW like you might on a Peugeot 508 Hybrid. However, if you intend just to plug in when you get home every evening, this shouldn't be cause for concern.
So, while you can fork out extra for a Type 2 charging cable and home wallbox to boost the 100% recharge time to three hours (compared to six from a standard domestic socket), that's as good as it gets – using a public rapid charger won't top you up any faster.
